    1. Re: [IRL-CARLOW] Dunleckney Baptism records for 1844
    2. I just got a bit more evidence about theis possibility of Patrick Coleman of Hacketstown being my great-grandfather. My third cousin in Maryland has just told me that two baptismal records and one death record for Patrick and Mary Elizabeth's children read 'Coalman'! I still have no idea where the 'James' came from. Maybe it was his Confirmation name, and he started to use it when he saw the fashion of having a middle name in the USA. Thoughts on either of these remarks? Maurice

    3. I have seen names spelled as pronounced many times. Examples; Alyward, Ellard and Elward; Shaughnessy, Aughney and Haughney; Nowlan, Nowland , and Nolan; Burroughs, Burrows, and Burris; etc. So the Coleman, Coalman would not be unusual. I have not seen many "given name" changes. I cross reference all my baptismal parents by their first and last names, and the given names usually come out the same..However that doesn't mean your ancestor didn't go by another name. It is just my experience, I am sure there are others who would say they had a different experience. --- On Tue, 6/29/10, mauricebursey@aol.com <mauricebursey@aol.com> wrote: From: mauricebursey@aol.com <mauricebursey@aol.com> Subject: Re: [IRL-CARLOW] Dunleckney Baptism records for 1844 To: irl-carlow@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 1:00 PM I just got a bit more evidence about theis possibility of Patrick Coleman of Hacketstown being my great-grandfather.
