On the wedding cert (1907) of my great grandfather Thomas Brennan, he listed the occupation of his father also Thomas Brennan as 'Steward' I'm led to believe that a Steward was the equivalent of today's estate managers and that it was an important occupation which sometime entailed making important decision when the land owner was absent. It would appear that the Stewards accommodation was within the grounds of the estate. One of the duties is said to have been organizing the collection of rents. Regards Jackie
