Patrick Ryan, Carlow, married Margaret (possibly Condle) in 1809 and emigrated to Philadelphia, PA.
Nobody ever seems to be looking for my Nowlan family.....Simon Nowlan and Margaret Donahue were married in Carlow, 15 Dec 1824. All their children were born in US, first one Jeremiah, born PA, then John, PA, then Michael, born Ohio.....That's all I have. No females that I know of....must have walked on water, as I never found HOW they got to United States. Both Simon and Margaret died in Kansas.. Thanks, Brenda

Hello to all on the List, My search is for the family of my great-grandfather, Thomas HOLOHAN, born 1845, ( bpt 21 Sept 1845) in Bagenalstown to James HOLOHAN and his wife, Anne nee Derenzy. The couple had a number of other children including Michael, bpt 24 Apr 1841; unknown child bpt, 16 July 1843; another Michael bpt. 7 Nov 1852. We believe that there were 5 surviving children. All were baptised at Dunleckney. James was a laborer and the family lived on Kilcarrig St. Bagenalstown. Best of luck to us all. Pat Zipf Jamesburg NJ
Researching James Nolan born Co. Carlow @1804, emigrated to Peterborough Canada about 1830. May have brother Edward born about 1795 who lived in Ballykealey Townland in 1820's and also emigrated to Peterborough about 1834. Meg McGowan Sent from my iPhone
For the surname roll call, I am looking for LARGE in Co. Carlow, early 1800's. Might be connected with the military in the 1700's-1800's, but this avenue of research has been fruitless so far. Am very interested in any Co. Carlow families that emigrated to the coal regions of eastern Pennsylvania or to Co. Kilkenny. Other regional (Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Kildare) surnames eventually connecting to LARGE are Kavanagh, Jackson, Bowe, and Kelly. I have no county or region yet for my Owen Tracy/Tracey/Treacy (born about 1826) so I mention him every chance I get! Deb Deborah Large Fox Help! Hi Michael: I am researching the JAMES family from in and around around Carlow Co. The dates range from the 1700's to the present. I have found great assistance from the Irl-Carlow web-site -Much Thanks !!! One of my biggest roadblocks is my G-G-Grandfather "Edward JAMES-> B abt 1821" who per death certificates married around 1843 a lady whose surname was "GILTRAP". However, the only records I can find is a Jacob JAMES who married an Ellen GILTRAP at that approximate location. My problem is that I cannot confirm that Jacob was Edward's Baptismal name or not. I will be visiting cousins in Carlow and Dublin between July 19 and Aug 4th. Hope to meet Michael Purcell of Kennedy St when I am there, but don't know his email address or phone number. My folks live on Montgomery St a short distance away. Michael Purcell, as you have, has contributed very much to the Carlow genealogy. Cheers my Friend Ken from Ontario Canada :) > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > Date: Sat, 3 Jul 2010 10:33:08 +0100 > From: "Michael Brennan" <mjbrennan@blueyonder.co.uk> > Subject: [IRL-CARLOW] Surname Roll-Call > To: <irl-carlow@rootsweb.com> > Message-ID: <C69A4653C88F4014BB7A1FC1F86C95D9@MichaelBPC> > Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; > reply-type=original > > Isn't it about time we had a Surname Roll-Call? > > > Regards > > Michael Brennan > > Carlow Website: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlcar2/ > My Laois Page: > http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mjbrennan/index.htm > > >
