I've faced this challenge myself while transcribing from microfilmed parish records; on a few occasions, it has been very hard to decide whether I'm looking at Conran or Coman... In this case, I have enlarged the image as much as possible and made sure the other names/dates/places listed in the entry are consistent with those I already know/suspect are correct.Not suggesting that your Comans are Conrans - just alerting you to the visual similarity of the two surnames and p! ossibility of errors.Karen.

Bible entry says Thomas was b. 1834 Co. Wicklow. Were Protestant. Have found this; "Tenants renting land from Earl Fitzwilliam in the townland of Killinure, County Wicklow Ireland. 1839. Anne Burgess has been transcribing the 1839 Fitzwilliam rentals records, and putting them into a spreadsheet for each townland, hoping in that way to construct a sort of census substitute for 1839 in southwest Wicklow........"
