    2. Michael Brennan
    3. I would like to remind all our Listers about the Killeshin Records on the Carlow website. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlcar2/Killeshin_Records.htm I only just realised, while helping one of our Listers, that a large part of these records contain families from Graigue and Sleaty and there are a some families from Carlow in there as well. The reason I am reminding everyone is because these records would be very easily dismissed because of their Killeshin title. I hope one or two of you may find that missing link in your research within these very valuable records. [ Note added 2012, two hundred years later this wall ( obviously raised a few feet since 1814 ! ) remains standing, fronting the premises known as "Greenville" , formerly occupied by Dr. Colgan and more recently by Tom Crotty. Today it is the offices of Brendan O'Flaherty, Solicitor & Notary Public, Athy Road, Carlow. The present building was erected circa 1876. ] Pat Purcell Papers. 1814. TO THE SESSIONS GRAND JURY OF THE COUNTY OF CARLOW ASSEMBLED ON THE 13th DAY OF JANUARY 1814. We the undersigned Inhabitants and Residents of Athy Road adjoining the town of Carlow being exceedingly and principally inconvenienced by a Wall lately erected by Mr John Emerson, in front of Mr Michael Finns House and extending five feet or more on the public High Road, request that the Gentlemen of the Grand Jury will be graciously pleased to take into their consideration the dangerous consequences that may result to his Majestys Subjects from the continuance of this Wall which is too low to be seen of a dark night, and from its projection into the Street might break their Limbs, and otherwise injure their persons --- Carriages might be upset by it and Horses ruined --. ~~~~~~~This Wall has been lately built by J. Emerson under pretence of reestablishing an ancient boundary to his field adjoining Mr Michael Finns House but has been left in such an unfinished and dangerous state, that it calls loudly for the Justice of the Country to interfere, and therefore the undersigned have stepped forward to have it presented and abated as a public Nuisance ~~~~. (signed) E. Butler, W. Lecky, Sarah Merdith, Sarah Murphy, T. Gurly. We present the same as a publick Nuisance and order the Sheriff of the County of Carlow, to abate the same. I estimate she was born about 1860, and emigrated to the States in the mid 1880's. The name is uncommon (as is Ring) and that is why I thought there might be a connection. I am not near my ancestry info at the moment, so I am not sure of her parents names..........I may not have them since she would have been related by marriage to my husband's grandfather. But if it is the same one, she outlived everyone (died in 1949) raised her children almost alone as her husband died around 1912, and took in the children of her brother in law as he died, too. A strong Irish woman. I may even have a picture of her........have the picture (fuzzy), not sure it is her, but believe it to be. In a message dated 6/23/2012 10:22:34 P.M. John King married Bridget Timmins (in 1839) and had several children, including my GGmother, Agnes, who married Thomas Nolan of Rathvilly and is buried in Grange cemetery. The Kings lived on Sleaty Street and Maryborough Street in Graigue in at least the 1840s an on, but I can’t find where they are buried. Any ideas are appreciated.
