Brian, I've read "Holy War in Belfast" by Mr. Boyd. I loved it. Don't know about Ida, don't have her yet. I have a picture of a person I suspect is a Boyd, but cannot identify him. He looks to be fairly well off, unlike all the other Boyds I have. She joined the Belfast branch of the Independent Labour Party when she was a girl of sixteen and through time could include Keir Hardie, founder of the Labour Party, David Kirkwood, William Walker, Jimmy Maxtonand others of that generation of Socialists among her best and closest friends. Ida was an accomplished public speaker and at the Customs House Steps, the Hyde Park Corner of Belfast, she often had to deal with hecklers who thought it 'indecent' for a woman to be haranguing the public from a political platform. She stood in several Belfast city municipal elections as a Labour candidate but never got elected.' > > Any connection? > > > Brian Magaoidh > http://ulster.failteromhat.com/ > > > > --------------------------------- > Sent from Yahoo! - a smarter inbox. > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-BELFAST-CITY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
