Gentle Listers, Was I lucky? I don't know. In 2005 my wife and I visited St. Anne's. I took a number of photos and I mentioned to one of the . . . ushers I suppose you could call them, that my grandfather was baptized there. He asked me if I was from America and I said yes. He then escorted me down to the basement (a very convoluted route) and got to a vault. On the walls were rows of books. The parish registers. One gentleman opened the book for 1886 and showed me my grandfather's entry. Priceless. When asked, one of the gentlemen told me they do not allow researchers to go through the books because some were tearing pages out of the register books. Too bad for me because I could spend a week there looking up family members. Andy
