Hi everyone, i'm pretty new to searching for my Irish family. I have been searching for London family and find there are loads of sites to look at but when it comes to Ireland I seem to come to a halt. My specific family is DRAYCOTT and MCONNEL both in Belfast Joseph DRAYCOTT was married to MCONNEL they had at least one child named Joseph DRAYCOTT born ca 1901. All help and advise will be greatly appreciated. thankyou in advance. Karen
One of my 'brick walls' was supposedly born in Belfast around 1843. Patrick W. Quin became a tool and die maker and worked at James Comb and Co., receiving a letter of reference from the firm in 1867. It is known that he married Margaret Jane Barr at St. Malachy's Church, Belfast, on July 9, 1864. (copy of marriage license obtained.) I am trying to locate the parents of Patrick and Margaret. A distant cousin wrote my mother many, many years ago saying Patrick's father was Thadeus Quin who was an engineer on the Paris to Calais Railroad. This cousin also said that Thadeus had 12 sons and 1 daughter; the daughter being Mary Ann Quin who married the tutor, John Gray. None of this information has been substantiated. Margaret Jane Barr was born April 10, 1844 according to her death certificate. It is believed that her father was David Barr (from whom I was named). I was told her mother was Sarah Bronson but the death certificate lists (no name) McGoyghin. Any help our leads would be appreciated. David Barr Spang www.geocities.com/dbspang
