I have a marriage certificate which I got a while ago while researching my Agnew connection. I dont think this is connected to me but in case someone else might find it useful, here are the details: Marriage solemnized at the Registry Office in the town of Belfast in the District of Belfast, May 7th 1853. Arthur Agnew, aged 21, Bachelor, Labourer. Living in townland of Ballyvessey, Parish of Carnmoney. Fathers name, Isaiah Agnew, Labourer. Ann McCarther, aged 22, Spinster, living in townland of Carnavee(?), Parish of Ballymartin(?), father James McCarther, Labourer. Both Arthur and Ann made their 'mark', and the witnesses were Samuel McMeekin and Mary Craig(who also made her mark). Registar was William McComb. My interest in Agnew comes via my ggmother Esther (Essie) Agnew who married Hugh Magee, Belfast in 1890. Hugh was living at 52 Wall St, Belfast, and his father John was deceased. Esther was living at 22 Bow St, Belfast, and her father Arthur Agnew was also deceased. Witnesses were John Walsh and Eliza Walsh. I think Esther may have been living with the Walshs or there may have been a family connection. Is any one out there connected to either Agnew or Magee families? Many thanks.
