I am new to the list and thought I would let you know my Belfast interests. I am researching James Wilson who was a carrier in Belfast. His daughter Hannah (sometimes Mary Ann) married William Gellie around 1840/41 in Belfast. In August 1841 William and Hannah boarded the Marquis of Bute at Greenock, Scotland and travelled to Melbourne, Australia to start a new life. Hannah was only 18 years of age when she came to Australia. I would like to find out more about James Wilson and his business as family legend is that James Wilson felt that his daughter married below her "station" as William Gellie was employed as a driver for the family. James sent money to Hannah in Australia but this immediately stopped when whe died in 1863. I would also like to find Hannah Wilson and William Gellie's marriage records but I am told that Presbyterian Church records are in local custody. Where to I go from here? Any help is greatly appreciated. Jan Vernon Sydney, Australia
