Johnston family in Belfast I am looking for any information I can find on my great great grandparents- Hugh Johnston and Mary Cairns (Carrins, Carins, Kerns etc). Hugh Johnston was born about 1844 in Belfast ( I think) and Mary Cairns was born 4 July 1844 also in Belfast. Mary's father's name was James Cairns. Mary and Hugh married about 1866 and emigrated to Canada around 1875-76. Of their nine children, two are known to have been born in Ireland-William John born about 1868 and Thomas James born about 1870. Two others may have been born in Ireland- Isabella born 1 Aug 1874 and Agnes b 22 Oct. 1875. This is the extent of my knowledge of this family.
