I would appreciate hearing from you If by any chance you could give me any leads on contacting any historians around Downpatrick or Portaferry. My g/g/grandfather James Braniff was a builder of wooden ships and all types of boats around 1800 circa. His son also JAMES Braniff B 1831. I guess at the age for working which in those days would have been 12 or 14 years old. he moved to BELFAST to work in the shipyards as a ships carpenter. He married in 1856 to Margaret Mitchell they had 4 sons. WILLIAM who at working age was the harbor pilot. JAMES {my grandfather} was a rigger for the harbor and also at sea. DAVID was a bookkeeper for the harbor office. THOMAS K was a shipwright for the harbor . They were all born 124 Gt. GEORGES St BELFAST CO ANTRIM . I am interested in my G/G/Grandfather as I have searched for 7 years on him and have not been able to find out anything on him or his wife or other siblings as I have some information on the family from JAMES #2 marriage. I would appreciate any information you may be able to give me .as at my age 78 years I am not good on the computer . Thank you for your time and kindness ELLEN{BRANIFF}DE SOUTER
