His name was JAMES BRANIFF he was from Portaferry or Downpatrick Co Down His son James B 1831 left the family in Co Down to work in the ship yard of Belfast co Antrim . He Married Margaret Mitchell in Elington Presbyterian Church 1856 they had 4 sons, #1 William was at working age was the harbor pilot #2 James {my G G grandfather] was a rigger for the harbor and also at sea. #3 David was a bookkeeper for the harbor office. #4 Thomas was a ship wright for the harbor I have some information on my family from James #2 marriage ,but I would appreciate any help anyone can supply.
