Dear Glen I am taking the liberty of following up on someone mail you corresponded with. I don't know if you are doing lookups if you are I would appreciate if you ever come across Braniff from Portaferry Co Down. The name I am searching is JAMES BRANIFF He was a builder of Wooden ships circa 1800. He also built all models of boats in that era. He was my g/g/grandfather I got his name from his sons marriage licence. His son also James Braniff born 1831 left the family to work in the shipyards in Belfast co Antrim . He married 1856 to Margaret Mitchell in Elington Presbyterian Church in Belfast N Ireland. They had 4 sons. William became the harbor pilot James [my grandfather] was a rigger for the harbor and also at sea. David was a bookkeeper for the harbor office Thomas Kennedy Braniff was a shipwright for the harbor. I have some information on the family from James #2 wedding, but nothing on James #1. I was wondering if by chance you would know if there is any way I could get in touch with any historians in Co.Down. I'm really sorry if I am bothering you , but I have been searching for 7 years with no success. I appreciate any help you can give me.as I joined 3 different web sites with not much help . Thank You Ellen{BRANIFF]De SOUTER'
