    1. Re: [BELFAST] Day Trips?
    2. Whew! I'm glad to hear that. I actually did what you're expecting to do. Let me tell you, even if things go PERFECT getting to the library, the old "irish concept of time and US concept of time (not to mention NYC concept of time)" usually kicks in and foils any attempts to get something done in one day. Just thought you should know that. I parked in the train station in Belfast and took the train down in the morning. I walked over to the library from the Dublin train station, but its a bit of a hike so take a cab. When I did this, the library was just starting on their genealogist advice office so there was a lot of red-tape I had to go through (needlessly)until they sorted things out. Plus, my return trip to Belfast from Dublin went fine, however, the RIRA just happened to call in a bomb hoax so the train behind me was held up for hours in Dublin. That doesn't happen that often anymore. AND the traffic coming out of the Belfast train station parking lot makes grid lock in NYC pale in comparison. It took me one hour to get out of that lot. I know the library is open that day. I hadn't yet checked on the proximity of the library to the train or bus station, but of course, would have been doing so. Coming from a decent-sized city, I'm well-aware that things can be wayyyyy across town. You better check the Dublin library hours for Saturday if you plan on using it. Plus, where is the bus going to leave you off? Do you know how to get to the library on foot? It's not as easy as you think to accomplish this.
