    1. [BELFAST] Civil Register page
    2. Michael McAllister
    3. Hi List, I wonder if someone, somewhere would check a page of the Civil Registers for me please. The copy I viewed through an LDS FHC at nearby Sutton Coldfield was a little torn and wonder if all the original was torn as well ! The page is from the Births section of the third quarter from 1900, bottom left hand side of the page number 40, name McALISTER/McALLISTER. If someone has an undamaged page would/could they copy or transcibe the section of the page for me please? It would hep me possibly track down some family members (hopefully). In anticipation, many thanks. Michael McAllister

    3. Hi Rosemary, many thanks for your help. I did some searching myself after I posted this mail to this List and noticed the website. An interesting site and actually confirmed the priest that conducted the marriage ceremony of my great grandparents. It is also within 'spitting distance' of their two homes at teh time of the marriage. Thanks again, kind regards, Micheal ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rosemary Henderson" <rj.henderson@ntlworld.com> To: <irl-belfast-city@rootsweb.com>; "'Belfast List'" <IRL-BELFAST-CITY-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 1:41 PM Subject: Re: [BELFAST] Marriage in Belfast - McALLISTER-MURPHY > St Peter's Catholic church in Belfast has been for many years the > pro- Cathedral for the Diocese of Down & Connor. 3. Hi Michael, Sorry I can't help with the 1901 census look up. However, I can tell you that a winder would have been an occupation for either sex but mostly female. The winder wound the yarn onto the bobbins in readiness for weaving linen. At least that what it was all about when I was a child. I don't think it altered much for many years until the demise of the linen industry in Ireland. Kind Regards. 1. [BELFAST] Fw: Robert MILLER + Mary Jane CARTER
    2. Les Horn
    3. Hi List My GtGrandparents were Robert MILLER and Mary Jane CARTER. According to the 1881 and 1891 Censuses for Blackburn LAN they were both born in Ireland in 1836 and 1845 respectively. A check of the LDS IGI shows an Alfred William MILLER b 24/1/1864 0215 Belfast, Antrim. The eldest of my Grandmother's (known) siblings, Sarah, was born in 1868 in Lancashire. Is it possible that the Robert MILLER and Mary Jane CARTER in Belfast are my GtGrandparents and that they emigrated between 1864 and 1868 believed, according to family lore, to be via Scotland. Robert was a Blacksmith to trade. Many thanks Les

    3. Deni There are at least three lines of enquiry you can undertake from this notice. 1. Contact the cemetery - if it was a family plot others may be buried in it (check this link http://www.lisburn.com/books/dromore-diocese/parish-stpeters-shankill.html) 2. Check the 1911 Census - there is a chance they were at that address 7 years previous 3.
