I have added seven more photographs to the church photos page on my web site. These have been kindly donated by Muriel in California. The new photos are: St Mary’s Church graveyard Newry, Bright Chapel Bright County Down, Altar in Down Cathedral, Exterior of Down Cathedral, St Mary’s Church Newry and St Patrick’s grave site. Very many sincere thanks to Muriel who very kindly shared these photos with us all. I hope to add more photos of churches in the future as and when they are donated for the web site. Muriel have you checked out William Gibson's name on the death index for 1879? That way you would have the exact date. Brian may be able to help you on City Cemetery question I think it was started a bit before Milltown which is RC. Milltown was started about 1869. However there are other Protestant Cemeteries in Belfast. Could someone please enlighten me regarding the Clifton Street Cemetery. There seems to me, to be two cemeteries - an historic burial ground, and a new burying ground. I had assumed that these cemeteries may adjoin one another. Or, are they in slightly different locaties? My thanks for information, from this most helpful list. I think it was a collection of lectures from various Belfast People. If I get the chance I will see if I can find it again. I couldnt afford to photocopy the whole collection but found the appendix showing population details interesting. If I have time, I will try and post those details, although the print is hard to read at times. You probably can get it from the library to check out, but you may already have it. By 1800 the population of Belfast was 20,000. It really grew rapidly due to the cotton industry.
