Hi everyone, i'm pretty new to searching for my Irish family. I have been searching for London family and find there are loads of sites to look at but when it comes to Ireland I seem to come to a halt. My specific family is DRAYCOTT and MCONNEL both in Belfast Joseph DRAYCOTT was married to MCONNEL they had at least one child named Joseph DRAYCOTT born ca 1901. All help and advise will be greatly appreciated. thankyou in advance. Karen
Get the birth certificate for the child born in 1901, which will give you an address and then go for the 1901 census from LDS for that street address Al Valentine Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: "kaz campling" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2005 2:23 PM Subject: [BELFAST] How to search for irish family > Hi everyone, i'm pretty new to searching for my Irish family. One of my 'brick walls' was supposedly born in Belfast around 1843. Patrick W. Quin became a tool and die maker and worked at James Comb and Co., receiving a letter of reference from the firm in 1867. It is known that he married Margaret Jane Barr at St. Malachy's Church, Belfast, on July 9, 1864. (copy of marriage license obtained.) I am trying to locate the parents of Patrick and Margaret. A distant cousin wrote my mother many, many years ago saying Patrick's father was Thadeus Quin who was an engineer on the Paris to Calais Railroad. This cousin also said that Thadeus had 12 sons and 1 daughter; the daughter being Mary Ann Quin who married the tutor, John Gray. None of this information has been substantiated. Margaret Jane Barr was born April 10, 1844 according to her death certificate. It is believed that her father was David Barr (from whom I was named). I was told her mother was Sarah Bronson but the death certificate lists (no name) McGoyghin. Any help our leads would be appreciated. David Barr Spang www.geocities.com/dbspang
Re Posting I am seeking decendants and information of the following, Sarah NAIRN b 1894Dublin,Married ? McEVOY,about 1915 ,They had one Daughter Named Annie who Married ? Some Darragh's from the 1901 census - maybe one of these was father to John b.c.1900 Surname, Name, Street - house No. and the letters below are the reference numbers for the films that the street is on in Dublin. Search the Latter Day Saints on line catalogue and maybe you can find the ref for their film - same as the Irish one, just different ref numbers. You can access films and find out any more about these families through your local Family history library. The Irish 1901 and 1911 census are not indexed - you really need to know the name of a street that people lived on - our census are indexed by street. Jane Darragh John Alaska street No. 8 94/2 Darragh William Atlantic Avenue No. 28 90/9 Darragh John Brownlow street No. 65 93/9 Darragh John Lettuce Hill No. 27 105/56 Darragh John Memel street No. 3 Darragh John Penuth street No. 11 Darragh Jane Knowles, Queens street No. 20 106/59

Dear Listers, Just received a copy of a death notice of an Aunt which listed her residence as "Netherleigh Lodge, Belmont". I am assuming that this most probably was a nursing home or TB clinic. Does the Lodge ring any bells with the long time Belfast residents (1939) Regards, George Gilliland Bonita Springs, Florida
I would appreciate some guidance please for obtaining a copy of a Will or Probate for an ancestor, JOHN MURPHY, who died 09/11/1870, at Newtownards. Hopefully there is one. A second Will is also sort for a, CAROLINE URSULA KING, died Belfast, 1960. My thanks for assistance with this, which is much appreciated from afar. Marina, In Christchurch, New Zealand.
At that time and even today the church was and is St. Patricks. A friend of mine was born and raised on New Lodge Road and I believe he was baptized at St. Patricks near city center. At least I believe that is the name of the church. If you get me a list of churches I can probably pick it out easy enough. It's around near the foot of the Crumlin Road, maybe a block or two north of it.
