    1. [BELFAST] Belfast City Cemetery
    2. bganderson
    3. I have recently discovered I have two families buried in the Belfast City Cemtery. Unfortunately I only know of one person per family in the grave. HUNSDALE AND MOORE are the families. Has anyone had success writing to this cemetery to get more information on who is actually in the grave before I spend the time actually writing the letter and making copies to send. Any help would be appreciated. Brenda Brampton, Ontario

Does a list exist of the people on the 100 year contracts for land in Belfast? Such contracts would have expired in the 1950's. By that time the city was a much larger urban centre. The small plots that were within the city would then be available for subdivisions. Is there a record of the change in the urban plan for Belfast or a record of how these contracts were terminated? Hi Jackie I think that families lived close to each other in those days, so it might be worth while checking the houses on the same street and streets near by for names that could be connected. Hi List Recently I have found the marriages (99% certain) for my Great Uncles ROBERT BAILEY and JAMES BAILEY, do any of the following names mean anything to anyone 24th April 1905 ROBERT BAILEY and ANNIE McCORMICK were married Albertbridge Road Congregational Church. Belfast, they had three daughters. They lived in St Kilda Street, ROBERT died in WW1 1917, ANNIE continued living in the house with her children until around 1925, then moved to Mount Street, then I loose sight of them and the family also 2nd August 1909 THOMAS JAMES BAILEY & MINNIE GRAHAM married at St James Church Shankhill, Belfast, again I am led to believe three daughters, and that is it. if anyone can shred any light on these two brothers and family, very much appreciated. 3. Hello Jackie, I have transcribed large amounts of extracts for the Belfast 1901 census and they are on my web site. (Please see the link below) Some of the extracts might be of interest to you. There is also a Belfast Street directory for 1901 as well as the LDS & PRONI film numbers. You can order the films from your local Family History Centre for a nominal fee. Of course you would need to know an address for your ancestor to be able to search as there is not an Index for the 1901 census for Belfast. I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck with your research. 3. Hi folks, Time to remind newcomers (and some of the not-so-new subscribers) to our list some basic posting suggestions :- 1) If you are enquiring about a particular surname, put it the Subject line, typed in CAPS. The village or town name should be kept in lowercase (except for its first letter, of course) 2) This convention should continue in the body of the message - SURNAMES, CAPS - Placenames, Lowercase. 3) It helps if you give us everything you know about the person. Tell us the places you have looked and found them (census, etc.) It is pointless others repeating where you have already found them. 4) Try and keep your message brief, but complete. 5) Always read through your message before you send it. Are there any typos? Dates correct? Names spelled correctly? 6) Make sure they were in the geographical area this list covers. We aren't here to search the whole country for you. 7) Don't leave the list immediately after posting or you might not receive your reply. 8) It is always polite to thank those who have helped you, but please send a private message directly to them. 9) And finally - be nice. Dave

I am hoping someone with access to the 1901 Belfast Shankhill census could advise me who is living at these addresses. Sitting with fingers crossed in Canada...... thank you SKS Jackie
