Andrew Todd and Janet Carmichael left the port of Belfast in 1798 with four children - Archibald, Janet, Ellender, and John. The settled in Laurens, SC. There were two other Todd men there who were often associated with Patrick. They were Nathan and Robert who came to SC before Patrick. They were also older. Because Nathan's descendant had a DNA test done, we had a descendant of Patrick submit a sample. We were surprised that there was a 37/37 marker match with a descendant of Mary Todd Lincoln's second great grandfather, an even older Robert, who was in Pennsylvania. Nathan's descendant also had a match. Because of timing, we know that the genetic link had to have been made in Ireland. Does anyone have suggestions about how to find that link? Some of these Todds came from Armagh. We are not certain about Patrick's Irish location.
