    3. Susan, I know some Ramsays here in Texas. He has his genealogy going back to Scotland. I haven't had contact with him for sometime; however, he knew the clan that they were attached to, etc.. So, I would say that there is an excellent chance that your Ramsays are Scots. He also said that Ramsey was an English family - totally different although the "a" and the "e" were often interchanged by error. At least you're search is down to 1 island... ;-) All of my genealogy books are still packed from our recent move so I can't refer to them right now, not that I've got anything for certain on Ramsey/ay.
