Thought I would re-enter my names in the roll call. My 2xg gparents were John HUDSON b.c1819 and d. 1875 at Casheltown, Portglenone, Co Antrim. He married Eliza CHESNEY at the Grange, Ballyscullion in 1843. Eliza was the daughter of William CHESNEYand Elizabeth REID. also my ggparents were David HUDSON (son of above) b. 1844 at Casheltown, Portglenone. He married Mary McCLURE at Ahoghill, Co Antrim in 1875. Mary was the daughter of Abraham McCLURE and Jane MURPHY. David and Mary emigrated to New Zealand in 1880. David'smother Eliza also came out to New Zealand at the same time. I would love to make contact with anyone who is researching any of the above names. Regards Doreen Hudson New Zealand
Doreen: your wish is granted. The Crooks and McClures lived in Ahoghill, Glagorm estate, Antrim, and also in other places with Antrim, But these McClures and Crooks left for America about 1735-38. Margaret McClure and John Crooks were children on the same ship and in 1750 were wed at Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John Cuthberetson. They would be an uncle and aunt to me 6 times removed. I have a cousin who is in their direct line (I am of the younger brother of John). There are some famous McClures in the USA, but they are of different families. Hello Listers, I'm returning to the list after sometime, and thought I'd put out my query. I'm looking for any info on Robert Purdy b.abt.1830. Married Jane Bigelow in 1850 and had 13 children. He and a brother Henry and sister Nancy reportedly came over to Canada with 2 uncles in 1842 . No mention of parents. Any help would be great Steve ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-ANTRIM-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Hi Steve My gg-grandmother was Rose Ann(e) Purdy/Purdie, born around 1860 in Bushmills Antrim. Parents are given on her marriage certificate as John Purdy (a farmer) and Elizabeth Kelly. I have no other details. She came to New Zealand in 1875, unaccompanied as far as I can tell. No details of any other family, etc. Perhaps there is a link somewhere?
