Mary: I am not related to the Shanks, but can tell you this. There were Shanks early on in Franklin Co., Pa and living near or in the town of Greencastle. There is a Shanks (Brethren) Church and cemetery and still in use. Also looking in the local telephone book there are around 50 Shanks still living in the area.
