    3. Don't know unfortunately. I have Margaret Cain married to James Whiteford. They are listed on the 1841 Campbeltown Scotland Census as born in Ireland. Their children living with them were James and Catherine. They also had Margaret and possibly Rosanna who were not living with them at Census night 1841. The OPR for Campbeltown shows their son James was born in Ireland in May 1826 but christened in Campbeltown Scotland also in 15 May 1826 which suggests the family were in northern Ireland. They can't have been too far away from Scotland as they have got across from Ireland and to Campbeltown for James to have been christened there within a week or two of his birth. At this stage, I am just trying to find out where the Whiteford name was in the northern part of Ireland. I had hoped to be advised whether there were any Cains in the same general area as the Whitefords on the Tithe Aplotment, but unfortunately that wasn't provided. That would have helped to pinpoint the area for me. I still have digging to do.
