    3. I'm a Reed, on my father's side, from Antrim...although I know Reed isn't really an Antrim name, is it? I'm descended from Andrew REED and Jean MURRAY, who came over sometime around 1730, seemingly from Antrim. But I always kinda thought they probably came from England, maybe way-pointed from Antrim...I don't really know...It seems that they made several trips back and forth, and had at least one daughter born at sea. The one thing that does seem "fairly" certain is that they were married in Antrim. I'm also a McLaughlin, seems to be from George McLAUGHLIN (rumor is came on the HERCULES), but unproven, and seemingly from Coleraine. George McLAUGHLIN seems to have a brother who had a commission in the City of Baltimore, and seems to have come over in 1730 (+/-5yrs). George seems to be the son of Phillip. George settled in Harlem, Kennebec, Maine (now called China, Kennebec, Maine), had a son George, and George 2d son, David moved to Levant, Penobscot, Maine. :-) This is all unproven...if anyone has any information...I'd love to hear it... :-) -David Reed Of the Townsend (now Boothbay) Maine REEDs David (me!) / Dermont Arlington / Clifton Dermont / Dermont Arlington / David A. / Washington / Andrew / Joseph / Andrew & Jean REED

    3. David, I'd suggest that you look for Scottish ancestors. Reid and its variants refers to "red hair". Don't be surprized if you find some Vikings back there too. A Y-DNA test would be interesting. Cliff.
