Dear Nevin and NICHOLSON party, First, thank you Nevin for all this - your fingers must be nearly worn down to the knuckles by now. Close inspection of the Tithe book at our Public Record Office reveals that the name was ANGUS NICHOLSON. The accepted modern name for the townland is Aghrunniaght. It lies a bit to the north of Armoy town. Angus Nicholson also appears in the 1803 "census" of coastal areas of County Antrim in the same townland - but with spelling "Aucrunaugh". This man was my Great-great-great-grandfather. His daughter Mary married William Chestnut (of nearby Mosside) in Armoy Presbyterian Church on 16 July 1839. I don't know any further details of the Nicholson family, but happy to provide data on the Chestnut lines.
