Is it the Presbyterians that are connected to the Church of Ireland?> As I understand it in Ulster (NI) Protestants are the majority, closely followed by the minority Roman Catholics. Among the Protestants the Presbyterian Denomination is the largest. Most of these folks are descendents from Scot Presbyterians settled during the clearances in th 1600's. The next largest Protestant Denomination would be the Church of Ireland (Anglican) composed mostly of English settlers and converts from the Roman Catholic church. The Church of Ireland was the state supported church in all of Ireland while it was under English rule. There are exceptions of course but basically it is and was so.
