Hello List, I am researching the Kilwaughter-Larne area for the surnames Glasgow and Shannon all the way from 1669, when Jas. and Jo. Glascho appeared on the Hearth Money Rolls, until 1747, when my ancestor, Robert Glasgow was turned out of Old Presbyterian Church of Kilwaughter and Larne. The Glasgows lived mostly in and around the Kilwaughter area, but I did find one James Glasgowe in Altilevelly in 1747. Glasgow forenames include James, John, Hugh, William, and Robert. Members of this family were very active and held positions of responsibility in the Old Presbyterian Church of Larne and Kilwaughter, and some are buried at St. Cedmas Cemetery in Larne. Also looking for the descendants of Hugh Shannon of Ballykeel, Kilwaughter Parish, who died 1727, and his descendant, Hugh Shannon, also of Ballykeel, who died 1776; this Hugh Shannon was married to Ann Taggard Glasgow, daughter of the above Robert Glasgow. Shannon male descendants include James Shannon, Archibald Shannon, Glasgow Shannon, and Robert Shannon. These included the Shannons from Ballytober, Carncastle and Killyglen. Also researching the Wilsons of Ballyeaston including the six sisters of Archibald WILSON, freeholder of Tildarg, who died 1795. Archibald WILSON left no descendants; he had six sisters: Jane, Margarett, Rachel, Anne, Elizabeth, and Susanna, his only heirs and next of kin. His sister Rachel married Robert Glasgow, and sister Margaret's daughter married Robert's son James (her first cousin). Also, Lamonts/Youngs/Sitlingtons who were situated in areas surrounding the Six-Mile-Water, in particular, Andrew Lamont Young and John Sitlington, linen manufacturers. I'm also keeping an eye peeled for the Unknown Higginson who was the stepfather of Rose Young, whose mother was Prudence Higginson. Rose Young married Robert Shannon, and the family emigrated to Canada in about 1849 with several children. Thanks to all.
