Further to my posting last week which included the following: They had 6 children (all six are listed on a large headstone in a very small cemetery just north of Belfast (I don't have the name of the place but could locate it if it will assist others) I was able to locate the location of the cemetery through a cousin. He sends the following information: The cemetry is at Ballyoutoag and I know that they had some sort of connection with Lyles Hill Presbyterian Church. It is near the Grange of Umgall. Also in the cemetery near the headstone is a small stone with William MULHOLLAND (late of Ballyutoag) 02 Feb 1844. I hope this helps someone out there. Cheers, Rick Surrey, BC, Canada
I am very interested in this posting. My gg grandparents were married in Templepatrick, the first son was born Umgall, and several of the younger ones were christened in Lylehill. I am presuming that is really Lyles Hill Presbyterian Church as they were presbyterian. Maybe all their records are there prior to emigration to Ontario. Do you have any contact addresses so that I could possibly get verification of all this family. Parents were William Spence born May 1805, Baraba Bailia (now transcribed as Bailey) born Nov 1815 , marriage Mar 27, 1832 Templepatrick, Son William Spence Jr. born Umgall, then Finley, Margaret, Barbara, then the rest I have Lylehill for, and they are Robert Clarke Spence, Hannah, Mary A., Jane Russell (my g grandmother), and Elizabeth Magill (McGill) Spence. If I could get the marriage record, I could verify place of birth, parents etc. as they are supposed to be of Scotch descent but born in Ireland. I can hardly wait for a reply.
