    3. My apology. I have never posted here and am unfamiliar with the protocols. I am responding in reference to the Norwegian inscription on the medallion. The "Dom" seems to be ignored in the suggestions I have seen so far. This medallion inscription could be in reference to the commemoration of a church on the specified date. It is the "Dom" that caught my eye. The word for church in Swedish is kyrka, the word for a large church or cathedral is domkyrka. I believe the same word in Norwegian is domkirke and that it can be shortened to simply dom. The "Erindring" certainly connotes remembering, recalling, etc. Again, this medallion could be a memento of the commemoration of a new large church, an event for which the familiar member was honored. -----Original Message----- >Message: 6 >Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2007 19:27:41 -0700 >From: "Norsky" <norsky@mtintouch.net> >Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] Fw: 1733 Medallion - THE ANSWER! >To: <fermanagh-L@rootsweb.com>, <ireland-roots-L@rootsweb.com>, > <irl-antrim-L@rootsweb.com> >Message-ID: <001201c740f1$8e007880$6400a8c0@D1BW9ZB1> >Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > > I received a TON of response to my request for help in deciphering my 1733 medallion, and I want to thank all of you who took the time to help out.
