    3. From: [email protected] Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] 1911 Census for Ireland >I have been using the above Census over the past week or so and found it useful as much of my ancestry is located in the counties released up to now. >For anyone who has not used the facility it may be of interest to know that the entries show Forename, Surname, Relationship to Head of Family, Religious Denomination, Ability to Read & Write, Trade or Profession, Age, Marital Status, County of Birth and , for married women, how long married, Number of children born and how many still alive. Hi Ian and Listers.... On Page 1 of the Household Return (Form A) one can also, besides what Ian listed, discover those who only spoke the Irish or those who spoke both Irish and English. Also whether a member of the household is Deaf and Dumb; Dumb only; Blind; Imbecile or Idiot; or Lunatic. IF you go on, to Page 2 of Form A, you can read the census taker's instructions and some really neat specifics about a variety of professions and instructions about that category. You will also see the appropriate geographic and governmental info for this family: County, Poor Law Union, District Electoral Division, Barony, Parish, Townland, City, Parliamentary Borough or Division, Urban District, Town or Village, Street & with # of House, and Name of the Head of Family. THIS ALSO SHOWS the # of the family for Form B. PAY ATTENTION to this #; you'll need it for other pages! The "Other original census images available" on this fantastic 1910 online Irish Census: €€€€€ENUMERATOR'S ABSTRACT (Form N) and Additional Pages: 2, which include, in numerical information: # on Form B; Dwelling Houses: Inhabited, Uninhabited, and Buildings Families: # in each House Persons: Males, Females; Total Specifics about Religious Profession (religion/faith one professed, that is) Roman Catholics: Males, Females Protestant Episcopalians: with two categories, both M/F Presbyterians, Methodists, Independents, Baptists, Friends/Quakers, Jews, All other Persuasions, AND "Information refused": all with M & F listed. REMEMBER the "# of the family for Form B" found at the far right of Form A? You'll need to know that # to find your family on this Form N, since all info is numerical. Page 1 of Form N is households #1-11; Pg 2 is #12-->. €€€€€HOUSE AND BUILDING RETURN (Form B1) and Additional Pages: 2 Again, you need to remember the "# of the family for Form B" for this Form B1, although each line/listing also has a (double check) "Head of household listing. You will find this info on these pages: ABOUT HOUSES: # of House or Building Whether Built or Building What type of building, ie Private, Public, School, Manufactory, Hotel, etc. # of Out-offices and Farm-steadings as returned on Form B2 If house is inhabited AND particulars about inhabited houses: Walls, Roof, Rooms, Windows (in front); total of those 4 columns Class of House, according to total, ie 12 or above=1st class, 1-2=4th class. ABOUT FAMILIES: # of distinct families in each house Name of Head (this is a double check for you to know if you've got the correct listing!) # of rooms occupied by each family Date on which Form A was collected. # of persons in each family who were sick on 2 Apr 1911 Name of Landholder (if any) on whose holding the House is situated. # on Form M1 if house is on holding of Landholder. (this Form M is not included, at least so far in the online census images.) €€€€€OUT-OFFICES AND FARM-STEADINGS RETURN (Form B2) and Additional Pages: 2 Form B2 includes 18 categories of "Out-Offices and Farm-Steadings" such as Stables, Coach Houses, Dairy, Piggery, Barn, Potato House, Forge, and Laundry. The 1st column is the # on Form B1 to which these out buildings belong; the last column is the total of the out buildings for that listing. There are 15 listings on Page 1, and the remaining on Page 2. How to find these other pages? When you click on the forename of your desired person in the search results, a page appears - showing all the residents in the household. The title of the page will be something like this: "Residents of house number 18 in Lismaree (Banbridge Rural, Down)" Below the list of residents you will see: "View census images" with all four Forms listed and linked to their images, along with the 2nd pages also linked to images. Note too, that the search page for this census <http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/> includes helps, esp: "What information does the census contain?" and the "detailed guide to the 1911 census" tells you of NINE other forms that were included in this census. I'm assuming one has to go to the originals in/from the National Archives of Ireland....since I do not know if they're accessible elsewhere. By the way, if you copy and paste the listings above onto your own word template, it will be a start toward a full template where you can easily insert the information from your desired listings. Good luck! And enjoy..... (unfortunately all my known Irish came to America in the 1700s) Cari McQuaid Thomas <western37(at)cox(dot)net>
