Hi Sharon, Another way you might find what your are looking for is to check the following website for other possible spellings of the surname you are researching: http://www.namethesaurus.com/Thesaurus/Search.aspx Once you have the year of birth, you might want to try check the Civil Registration Index of Births of Ireland, for that particular year. They can be found at your local LDS (Latter-Day-Saints) Family History Center. Then go through the year you have, looking for various spellings you have, which are listed in Belfast. You may also have to check the years before and after what you have. Sometimes the births were not recorded immediately, so depending on the time of year of birth, the birth could have been recorded the following year. If you locate what you are looking for, then you can get a copy of the record you found. Just write down the vol. and page number, along with the District of Belfast. A copy of the certificate will give you the names of the parents, along with the area/townland where the parents lived. Hope this is of some help.
