Looking for information on Fleming (Flemming) family from Ballycastle, Antrim. James Fleming born June 9, 1805. ( He has Ballycastle written on his tombstone) James' wife was Hannah Chestnut (Chessnut) born 1807 Don't know if they were married in Ireland or Pennsylvania. James emigrated to America before 1835 birth of first son, Robert Fleming, but no other Flemings found that may have followed him. I did find this a while back and I am thinking that the following might be the family in keeping with Irish naming patterns. And this Robert might be a younger brother to James: 1851 census return for County Antrim, Rasharkin Parish, Moneyleck townland has this info: Robert Fleming, age 35, unmarried Sister- Elizabeth Fleming, age 30, unmarried Visitor- Susan Mooney, age 64, widow married 1826 Absent: brother James Fleming, age 44, in America (this might be my James) Absent: brother William Fleming, age 42, in America This is the only information I have come up with after years of searching. Family was Catholic. I am hoping someone might have parish, cemetery or tithe records for these Flemings that would help me find out more about them. They came to the United States before the famine and civil registration, so church or cemetery records might be my only lead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
