It is too early for the birth registrations so the only hope would be church records. It depends on whether they really meant Ballymena or just the area of Ballymena. There were Kenneys in Ballyhutherland, north of Ballymena. They likely went to either Clough or Killymurris to church. The Clough records are burned for that time period. There is a film at PRONI for Killymurris and I will be there next week. I will be doing the Killymurris film so will watch for Kenney - I don't remember the time span for the Killymurris film. >From Killymurris cemetery: 1887 In memory of David Kenny, Carnlea, who died 1st May 1878, aged 59 years. Also his wife Margaret, who died 9th Feb. 1907, aged 85 years. Also their daughter Elizabeth, who died 28th Nov 1907, aged 53 years. Also their son John, who died 10th Sep 1914, aged 65 years. Erected by James Kenny of Cornark. In memory of his daughter Sarah Jane who departed this life 3rd Octr 1873, aged 15 years. In loving memory of my dear parents William Kenny, died 6th March 1979. Arah Annie, died 11th August 1981. Also my dear grandmother Mary Law, died 8th May 1945. Also my dear husband John Marrs, died 22nd May 1990. Loved and remembered. Kenny. Cherished memories of a dear wife, devoted mother and grandmother Constance (Connie) died 23rd June 1988, aged 67 years, Worthy of Everlasting Remebrance. In Ballyhutherland in the Griffiths there is a James, Archibald and Alexander Kenney. James Kenney's daughter Mary Ann married Wilson Stevenson - which is my interest in the Kenny's - I have been trying to put together who his ancestors are. I think Alexander Kenney is her brother. Mary Ann died in 1871 (b. 1842) and is buried in Clough cemetery. I have a partial transcription of Clough cemetery but there are no Kenneys listed. There are no burial records for Killymurris except the transcription of the tombstones. The burial records for Clough, although they are not terribly old, are at the moment in the keeping of the Borough Council in Ballymena. Wilson Stevenson later married Jane Hamill and lived in Carnlea. He is also buried at Clough. >From the Griffiths valuation - about 1862: Alexander Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Townparks/(Farm-Lodge) Alexander Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Townparks/T/Ballymena/Broughshane Street David Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Carnlea David Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Clogher James Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Clogher Robert Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Ballygarvey Robert, Jr. Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Ballygarvey Thomas Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Dernaveagh Anne Mc Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Ballygarvey Anne Mc Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Drumfin Bernard Mc Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Townparks/T/Ballymena/Ballymoney Street David Mc Kenny Antrim, Kirkinriola, Townparks/T/Ballymena/John Street David Kenny Antrim, Craigs, Kildowney John Kenny Antrim, Craigs, Ballyclosh John Kenny Antrim, Craigs, Craigs John Kenny Antrim, Craigs, Cullybackey Eliza Mc Kenny Antrim, Craigs, Dunnygarran Probably lots of Kenney information that is of no use to you but you never know. I have rejoined after a break.....hoping that someone will recognize the following I have found another child for my Robert GILLESPIE.. here is the Family so Far.. Robert GILLESPIE married Elizabeth KENNEY (*KENNY) ???? Children Rose Ann born June 1840 Esther born May 1845 ************birth dates taken from death certificates.. >From Esther's marriage notice it states that her Father was living in Ballymena in 1867 Also from Marriage and death notices the Girls were born in Ballymena as well.... Rose Ann married Alexander GREER in Queensland in Jan. 1865 and Esther was a witness.... WHEN they arrived in Australia is yet unknown .....having only lately found that Esther had a Sister and that she married in Qld. in 1865 narrows down the search a little.. Alexander GREER was also born in Antrim..about 1838 son of John GREER and Esther WEAR. again the year of birth is taken from ages at marriage and death... Esther GILLESPIE married Hugh KELLY in Qld in 1867 Hugh KELLY was born 1841 in County Amagh son of William KELLY and Sarah WRAY or RAE.. Can SKS tell me who I can contact to check on the Births of the two GILLESPIE GIRLS ..and deaths of their parents.... Im sure there must be more siblings as well. Hi Anne Thank you for the information.. I will keep this in case any of them do fit when I break down the brick wall. If Rose Ann GILLESPIE was Elizabeth KENNEY's first child born in 1840 would make Elizabeth's birth somewhere between around 1818 -1823 I would imagine... but then Rose Ann may not have been the first child .. Esther was born 5 years later .. I suspect there are many more either before Rose and after Esther.. Thanks for sending the information...as you say they may have just said Ballymena meaning the area...and not actually the town..
