I am searching for information on a HALLIDAY/HOLLIDAY family who lived in Garryduff, Ballymoney parish, Antrim in 1839. My 3 x great Grandmother was Mary HALLIDAY born about 1787 based on her age [ 64] when she died in 1851 in Chelsea, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. According to family, Mary " ran away at the age of 16 and married Paul GILLMORE/GILMORE, who had been married previously and had 2 sons. James and John GILLMORE. Her family disowned her. Paul and Mary left Scotland to go to the United States but were shipwrecked off the coast of Liverpool, Nova Scotia. They settled in Lunenburg County Nova Scotia. When their log cabin was torn down a letter was found dated 22 April 1839, Garryduff, Ireland. It was written by her brother James HALLIDAY and from this letter is the following information about her family in Garryduff" James HALLIDAY her brother had a wife named Mary and a son Robert HALLIDAY who on 23 April 1839 left Garryduff carrying the letter. Mary's mother was still alive in 1839 but her name is not given. She had an uncle Andrew[ Halliday] who had 6 children in 1839, two of whom were married. She also had an Uncle Robert [Halliday]who was dead by 1839, his widow was alive and had 6 children, all married except two. Her Uncle William [Halliday] had 5 motherless children. There is also a Nancy GILMORE/GILLMORE and family mentioned in this one lone letter. I have found several HALLIDAY families in Garryduff in the 1851 census, but am unable at this point to link them to Mary. Is anyone on the list familiar with either the HALLIDAYS or GILLMORES? Mary [Halliday] GILMORE and husband Paul had 10 children: Andrew GILMORE;, Jane Henderson GILMORE; Thomas GILMORE; Mary Ellen GILMORE [ my 2x great grandmother;] Sarah GILMORE; Marjorie GILMORE;Matilda GILMORE; Paul GILMORE; Samuel GILMORE and Hannah GILMORE. Sadly Mary [Halliday] GILMORE never responded to the letter written by her brother in 1839. Would welcome any advice as to where to look for baptisms for the 1787 time frame for Garryduff. I realize the information is scant but I am hopeful that the HALLIDAY and or GILLMORE name might be known by someone on this list. Thank you for any assistance you can give. Marge [Howes] Perry
