Hi Nevin, Thanks for that. I do in fact have a record for Thomas' RIC service. A man by the name of Jim Herlihy did it for me. It states when he joined, who recommended him, where he was transferred to, and why he was discharged. Thomas' reason was emigration. He must have left Ireland soon after he resigned as there isn't much time from resignation to his first child's birth aboard the Sir William Eyre in 1857 enroute to Australia.
