I was given the suggestion to look at the Ulster Covenant to help pinpoint the location of my Burnside families. My first thought was it is was too far removed from the time frame that I need as my Burnsides left Ulster in 1817 but decided to look anyway. Here is what I found and would like opinions as to whether I have found a new lead or if I just "had fun" for more than 2 hours looking at names. A few months ago I compiled a list of 56 surnames in a three county area of PA where my Burnsides settled. These individuals indicated in census records they were born in Co. Down, Co. Antrim, or just Ireland. In the past I had compared these names to the Flax List and Freeholders List and although many were listed it didn't really lead me to where the Burnsides lived before they immigrated. Now to the Ulster Covenant - of the 56 surnames only 5 were not found in St. Anne's district of Belfast. Two of the five were in Saintfield , one said Down and the other two were not on the Ulster List but I had some problems with the spelling of McClymonds and McConahey. Also, there were 23 Burnsides listed in St. Anne's and everyone of my usual forename were represented - John, James, Alexander, Robert, Samuel, and William. Does anyone think I may have found a clue? Thank you for any help. Linda
