    3. Yes I know that. Thanks. I tried writing to Robin Cherry but got no response. I am hoping to be there in 2007 but I think I will try one more time to get him to answer. His gr gr grandmother was Mary Stevenson I think and I am hoping he knows something about the family. His brother Ivan lives near there also. I guess I should try him also. -----Original Message----- From: irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of John Montgomery Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2006 9:40 AM To: irl-antrim@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] 1901/1911 Antrim census There are still Cherrys living in that area John -----Original Message----- From: irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Anne Shier Klintworth Sent: 13 December 2006 22:29 To: IRL-ANTRIM-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] 1901/1911 Antrim census Does anyone have access to the 1901 and or 1911 census for Carnlea, Co. 3. Anne: It has been my experience, some relatives are responsive, & others not at all interested. Perhaps a phone call may spur him on? Worth a try? It is less expensive to phone on a Sunday morning but calculate the time difference. I had a call from Tasmania at 1:00 am in morning but I was SO happy to hear from them, I did not care what time it was. but then I am a keener! Good luck! 1. [IRL-ANTRIM] William DUFF and Martha GRAHAM and family - Antrim Ireland, Crieff and Glasgow, Scotland
    2. Jen Watson
    3. My GG Grandparents William DUFF and Martha GRAHAM were married in Craigs, near Ballymena, Antrim on 13 May 1846. On their marriage record it says that William was the son of Thomas DUFF. William was listed as a weaver. Thomas as a labourer.. Martha was the daughter of Samuel GRAHAM. He is listed as a weaver on the marriage record. The Banns were by Rev G. Kirkpatrick. Denomination of both was Church of Ireland. Witnesses were George and James McCLOY. Census entries have his birth place as Ireland (1861 mentions Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland) I guess between 1824 and 1829. He was in Broughdone, Craigs Ireland in 1847. William and Martha had settled in Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland by 1851. He worked on the railway line near Gleneagles for a time. He was noted as a Hand Loom Cotton Weaver on various census entries and later Street Scavenger. William died in Crieff in 1877 and his wife Martha and some of their chn remained there. Of their 4 sons, Robert and Samuel became tailors. In the 1891 Census Robert was in London and Samuel in Edinburgh. By the early-mid 1890's at least three of their chn were in Glasgow ie Robert, Martha Jane and Samuel. Robert married Catherine LATIMER. Samuel married Annie CAMERON. Martha Jane married Daniel COMRIE. Samuel and Martha and families returned to Crieff. Robert and family emigrated to Australia. I have been unable to find birth details for my William DUFF, on his death entry it has his parents listed as Thomas DUFF and Margaret DUFF ms GORDON. Nor have I been able to find any marriage of a Thomas DUFF and Margaret GORDON. I believe that Margaret and Thomas had a number of children including William and Robert. Any suggestions as to how/where I can find out more my DUFF family will be greatly appreciated. Any DUFF's with these names or places out there? Kind regards Jen William and Martha were in Crieff, Scotland by 1855. Three children were born in Ireland. (possible names are Mary, Margaret, Lily) >From Martha's Death entry in 1910 in Crieff, her mother was listed as Margaret McLean. Census records and death entry have her being born abt 1820 in Ireland. (The only birth of a " Mar*" I had found with father Samuel Graham between 1815-1825, was in 1820 with mother Jane Salters, born in Shankill, Belfast.) I need help please ... * When and where was Martha Graham born - (on birth entries for chn in Crieff she is listed as Martha Jane Graham.) * When and where was William Duff born (census records for 1861 and 1871 have him being born in Ireland and then Perthshire!) *Who was William's mother? *Was Thomas Duff, father of William Duff, in Ireland, or Scotland? * Who were William's siblings? * Who were Martha's siblings? Family history says that Samuel Graham had 5 chn. Martha Jane was the eldest and Agnes ("Blind Aggie") the 4th child. Agnes's headstone in Crieff, says that she was born in Belfast Ireland on 1 Nov 1836. (According to family story) Samuel and Peggy Graham died abt 1845 in Ireland. The Duffs and at least Agnes left Ireland in abt 1852. Can anybody help please... Any suggestions ?? Thank you Jennifer Watson - from Australia

    3. Nevin I was in Denver for Thanksgiving all that week and got delayed due to illness four extra days so --- did not see any emails till wed. last and with over 400 I have fallen way behind. If you still have any inclination to continue looking in the Northern Ireland Tithe Aplotment and/or census records, will you please look for the Akey's, Ake's. Ekey's for me? Peter Akey settled in Ohio about 1789 and did a naturalization record stating that he came from the "Kingdom of Ireland" His Father or brothers May have been John and James . 3. Must thank you all for the extra help which I have received and if anyone has anny links at all would be absolutely thrilled to hear. I do have a photo of Annie BEATTIE and it is a good one which I have touched up so it is really clear. She had a very dark swarthy complexion, Brown Eyes which were nearly black, and very dark hair. So far have not been able to locate her parents although I have a copy of her marriage certificate etc. Will have to locate her birth or census record to find their names regards Elaine

If you go the index page there is a map of PORTGLENONE There is also a seperate website I took the advice of list members and did a google. e.g. www.google.com and I put in Portglenone+Ireland+history first then adapted the second search Portglenone map and Geneology These are the first Beatty surnames I have so far-it is a start. Well it is well known here in NZ that our ancestors couldn't read or write or most of them couldn't Annie Spelt her named Beattie on her letter into the country as an immigrant, but I do not know if it was written for her. I originally was looking for BEATY, then BATY. I imagine that a KERR married a BEATTY or BEATTIE in Ireland perhaps Portglenone ----- Original Message ----- From: <irl-antrim-request@rootsweb.com> To: <irl-antrim@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, December 01, 2006 1:32 PM Subject: IRL-ANTRIM Digest, Vol 1, Issue 85 > > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
