Apologies for sending to list...I sent the following to Rick Hutton but it appears he didn't receive it Hi Rick, My GG Grandfather William McNeill was also from Ahoghill and signed up for the British Army in Ballymena at almost the same time. He was sent to India for 7 years and was in the 32nd Light Infantry. Maybe a starting point for you...They probably knew each other. I'm decended from the same Craigs. Is your ancestor Hugh Hatton b.23 june 1868 or his brother James Hatton b. abt. 1863? Colin..
Thanks for your kind offer. I stumbled through that overgrown cemetery some years back and met up with some kind of stinging nettle, I believe, which made me give up my search. My names of interest are Paul and Craig, particularly Robert Paul and Samuel James Paul. My grandmother lived on Tullygrawley Road and was a Paul. Her father Robert died in 1882. Hello List ~ I'm new. Just thought I'd post my interests: 1. Four brothers, all born Ireland: John Boyd (born abt. 1840), William Boyd (born abt. 1841), Clotworthy Boyd (born abt. 1846) and Samuel Edward Boyd (born abt. 1850). They may have come from Ballymena. Their father may have been "Tatty" Boyd, a schoolmaster at Dunmaul. All four brothers immigrated to New Orleans and then Texas. 2. Three brothers and a sister, all born Ireland: James Rainey (born abt. 1809), William Rainey (born ?), Samuel Rainey (born abt. 1828) and Martha Rainey (born abt. 1811). They appear to have come from Randalstown. The three brothers also immigrated to New Orleans and stayed there. Martha Rainey married William Kelly of Antrim (born abt. 1811), son of John Kelly (1760-1828) who had possibly been a publican at Townhead (top of Antrim main street). William Kelly became a clipper ship captain. He died in 1877 and is buried in Muckamore Cemetery. I'd very much like to exchange information with anyone who knows anything about these families. Thanks very much. Harold Bradley Alamo, CA

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. G'day all, the Johnston/Johnson/Johnstone thread has been bordering on sensational, in my mind one of the largest threads within this special Group for this so common a surname. For background, a lovely cousin of mine [Gillian] and I moderate a specific Group with Yahoo for those seeking our surname in Australia and New Zealand, it's a networking Group and by no means is this a marketing message to all and anyone to join however all of this Group are seeking knowledge, just as yourselves, if you have a Aussie or New Zealand connection it might be worth the while. Our Johnston's came out of NIR, specifically from a small town called Derrykeighan near Dervock and generally in that region, Ballymoney included. I understand that our name is not uncommon but if the areas ring a bell with anyone we'd love to touch base. The AU/NZ Group location is at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JohnstonAustralia/ Our Own Page is at: http://www.geocities.com/johnstonoz/ Best Wishes Don Johnston in Melbourne AU ****************************
