    1. [IRL-ANTRIM] Frank Boyd of Ballycastle
    2. Mike Boyd
    3. Major Francis Boyd of Ballycastle and his wife ( Jean Charlotte Meik) had five sons and one dauhgter. The eldest son, Frank, married in Canada and had eleven children. I would estimate that he was born in the 1820's. This could have been in Ballycastle or India. Does anyone on on either list know of this family. This is all the information thas is available form Three Hundred years in Innishowen, Amy Isabell Young, 1924, McCaw, Stevenson & Orr Ltd, Belfast, Thank you. Mike Boyd Historical Committee

    1. [IRL-ANTRIM] Boyd of Clare Park, Ballycastle
    2. Mike Boyd
    3. This Alexander Boyd of Clare Park seems to have come from a second Family of for the Rev. William Boyd of Ramoan Parish. If you are able to add anyting to the children of this family, I wuld be most grateful. (Second Family of Q1? - William Boyd) This is supposed to be the second family of William Boyd [Q1?], who died in 1727, but it shows hear that he remarried in 1728. Dates of his children's births would suggest that he was born about the early 1710's period. Three Hundred years in Innishowen, Amy Isabell Young, 1924, McCaw, Stevenson & Orr Ltd, Belfast, p 293 says - "He (William Boyd) appears to have married a second time, since his son Hugh in his will mentioned two 'brother-in-law,' Alexander Boyd and the Rev Charles Boyd. The term 'brother-in-law' was used in several senses in earlier times, and could quite well refer to half-brothers. One of these 'brother-in-law' Alexander, was Surveyor of the Customs at Ballycastle, and got the Clare property from his father. He married Anne, dau (or sister) of Ezekiel Davys Wilson, of Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, and had a number of children. This family was known as the Boyds of Clare Park, but is now extinct in te male line, and the Clare property was sold by one of them to Edmund MacGildowney, Esq., whose descendants still hold it. The chart on p 294 shows the children of Alexander Boyd. "By his first wife, Rose McNeile, the Rev William Boyd had at least two sons and two daus. R3/5 Alexander Boyd, b / /170x ( , Co. Clare?, Ireland), d / /17xx ( ), bu , m / /173x (church, town, country), Ann/Mary Wilson, dau of and (nee ) Wilson, b / /170x (Carrickfergus, Co. 3. Hi Rick, Looks like you are busy with all those lookups. I've visited the old Cullybackey graveyard quite a few times trying to find my GG Grandfather, Adam Craig's grave. My Grandmother's cousin remembered as a boy attending the funeral in 1925 and told me where on that steep hillside he's buried. Unfortunately there's no stone and I can't find anyone who has accurate records. I was born in Antrim and relocated to Canada in 1980. William John Craig b. abt. 1833 (Ellen's father) was married to Sarah Wiley b. 1831 d. 20 Dec 1897 on 12 October 1854 in Ballymena Registry Office. I only know of 2 children, Ellen b. abt. 1859 and Edward 1861-1892. William John Craig was a brother of my direct ancestor James Craig 1826-1903. Their father was William Craig of Dunminning. Apparently the Hatton/Craig thing took an odd twist..James' and Ellen's son William John Hatton (in grave #278) was in the Orange Order. He was a second cousin to my G Grandfather Henry Craig. On "your side ' of the tree I have your Allen Hatton being married to Susan Lennon and his parents as James Hatton 1786-1863 and Catherine 1795-1865. His known siblings were James married to Mary Rea, Hugh married to Ellen Heaney and John married to Rose Tully. Have you ever been in touch with Sharon Wills of Wisconsin? She descends from Hugh Hatton, a brother of James who married Ellen Craig. My mother is 86 and still remembers her G Grandfather Adam Craig 1853-1925 (Ellen's 1st Cousin) but she never heard of a Hutton connection. 3. I am new to the list, and I am searching for my great-grandmother, Mary McGann. I believe she was born Catholic about 1828 in Glenavy, County Antrim. She emigrated to America before 1848 and married a Patrick Conley. If anyone is tracing McGanns I would be happy to hear from them. 3. WOW Colin This is amazing that you are descended the Craigs at C' backey Old Methodist ! I'm not from that direct line of Hatton/Hutton. James Hatton/Hutton (Catholic) born 1863 & married Ellen Craig (Presbyterian) in 1881 at an RC Chapel in Dunloy, PLU of Ballymoney. Looks like they ran off to be married since the Hattons normally attended St Marys Chapel in Ahoghill. James and Ellen had children Sarah, Chas and Wm John Hatton all baptised at St Mary's RC Chapel in Ahoghill. James Hatton died 1890from TB. At the 1901 census, Ellen & children were back living with her father Wm John Craig at Tullygrawley and Ellen & children were listed as Presbyterian. >From what we've put together, James Hatton was the son of John Hatton and Roseann Tally. We think that this John Hatton was the brother of my g g grandfather Allen/Alex'r Hutton/Hatton. Most of the early written Irish records show the name as Hatton but the name passed down thru oral history of my line was Hutton and was written that way 1864+. I am in contact with direct descendents of John & Roseann Hatton and they show the name as Hatton 1864+ Do you have any info on the Hatton/Huttons thru your Craig connections ? It would be great to have some verification of what we've surmised. Anecdotal stories indicate that some of the Catholic Hatton and Presbyterian Craig cousins could barely stand to be in the same room with each other. Thanks for your reply re: Hugh Hutton's possible military regiment. Now it seems even more likely that Hugh and your Wm McNeill may have known each other. Now just recently I have got information that suggests he married twice 1st wife Margaret CRAIG, Rick on seeing your mention of CRAIGs I thought it was worth posting this on the Antrim site. The marriage would have been around 1815 to 1820 and one son was born John in 1820 at Aughnacloy Tyrone Does any of this ring any bells On John's death cert and his arrival papers for Australia he gives his mother as CRAIG the 4 siblings I know of give their mother as BURNET all other details are the same Patricia New Zealand -----Original Message----- From: irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of The Huttons Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2007 8:58 PM To: irl-antrim@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Cullybackey Old Methodist burying ground-Inscriptions A-K Hello fellow Co Antrim researchers I'm back on this list after quite a few years away...
