    3. Hi I have just found out that my James Edward Heaney was baptised in Glenavy Co. Antrim in 1863. I would like to know if there is a library or local historical society in or near the Glenavy area please. I have found some Heaney's in the Catholic section of the cemetery there. Also I would like to find some photos of the area for our records. Thanks kind regards Dianna

    3. Dianna;   Although I can not answer your question. I too am doing research on the HEANEY surname. I have an Ellen HEANEY who married Hugh HATTON. Hugh is the grandson of Henry McFALL. Does any of this appear in your HEANEY research?   Thanks,   Sharon/USA [email protected] "One Nation Under God" --- On Sun, 3/28/10, dianna charles <[email protected]> wrote: From: dianna charles <[email protected]> Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] Glenavy Co. 3. The townland maps at the Ballymena Library are very large and need to be copied in sections.  The book store in Fairhill Shopping Center in Ballymena - Waterstone - last time I was there had street map book for all of Co. Antrim.  I had one but my sister was trying to return it to me and Fedex lost it :(  Planning to get a new one when I get there in a couple weeks. If you go to Multimap.com and put in Corkey you will find the map for that area.  Ballyweany is not a town so it will not come up but it is west of there.  A line due north from Ballymena falls between Corkey townlands (actually there are four townlands - Corkey lower or little, Corkey Middle, Corkey Love's Corkey, and Corkey north) )  Much of the Corkey area to the east has no roads, it looks like it is hills.  It looks like Ballyweaney Townland would be west of A44, north of Cloughmills. My favorite places to stay are:   http://www.ireland4you.freeservers.com/  Gladys Smith is the owner and she is great.  It is in Carnlough on the sea.  If you look at my blog, the picture at the top was taken from there. Also, the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena.    Anne Shier Klintworth Check out my genealogy blog at http://genealogygirl.wordpress.com/ ----- Original Message ---- > From: Jo-Ann Blomquist <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Sent: Wed, March 10, 2010 3:10:20 PM > Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Upcoming visit to County Antrim and Townland maps (marmoto) > > Hi Mary, Maybe you already have what you need, but I thought I'd pass > this along.  I found it recently while looking for maps of my own > research and like how you can switch from a regular map to Ordnance > Survey.  Not as historic as you were probably hoping for, but perhaps > helpful just the > same..... http://www.multimap.com/maps/?lat=54.37776&lon=-6.43627&zoomFactor=14#map=55.04022,-6.2998|14|4&dp=925,917&bd=useful_information&loc=GB:55.04026:-6.30033:14|corkey|Corkey,%20Ballymena,%20County%20Antrim,%20Northern%20Ireland,%20BT44%209 Jo-Ann =========================== > > I will be in County Antrim in a few weeks exploring places my > > > ancestors, The McCrubb's  lived prior to  immigrating to the US  > in > > the late 1830's.  On the 1803 agricultural census I have > found them > > living in Corkey and Balleyweany, in Loughghile , County > Antrim, but > > have not been able to get any more specific > locations.  I was unable > > to locate any  church records > (RC) or specific sites where they > > lived.  I am interested in > at least seeing the general area.  Does > > anyone have an idea of > what would be the best resource for detailed > > townland maps  > (this is my first trip to Ireland).  I have seen some > > websites > that you can download historic maps from but I am wondering > > if I > should wait and pick one up in Ireland.  Any other ideas and > > > suggestions would be welcomed. > > > > Sincerely, > > > > > Mary Yamamoto > > > ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send > an email to > href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected] > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of > the message

    3. Thanks to Mike, Bob, and Alma for responding to my post yesterday (which I included below). You all gave me some good ideas. I did check with the Catholic Church in Loughghile and they could not find any records for the McCrubb's. I will plan on going to the library in Ballymena to find some townland maps to copy and also to do some research there. There also is a museum at Ballymoney that has a great website with searchable records but no luck their either. I may still stop in there as well. Fortunately I have a husband who doesn't mind hanging out in libraries and cemeteries (however I may need to find him a golf course). Thanks again for your help in planning my visit.
