Doreen I don't think there could be worse timing if we had tried. I just this morning threw away a bunch of documents on Blaker, Blakely and Bleeker surname I've been working on for a man from Ontario, Canada. If you give me permission to give him your email address I will link the two of you up. I honestly can't recall any information or any of my findings as I work with so many different surnames. Please don't get your hopes up but just maybe you can get a bit of information. I do know while researching the name all these variants came up and it was very frustrating. Remind me too to work on this but I'm caught up with some family new baby stuff at the moment with my daughter. Hi to all on the list I am probably clutching at straws but put the following to the list about my 20yr brick wall... I have no broadened my scope to contemplate that my Hugh McCAMBRIDGE was born at either Kilcroagh, Drumnacole, Ballycastle, Ballyrenagh, Drumfasky or Tully Glenarm, County Antrim , or, lastly, Carnlough (Larne) bet 1813-1818 to a Rose McCAMBRIDGE. I am guessing the above as there are McCAMBRIDGE deaths found in all these places during the period 1870-1890. I can find my Hugh residing with his mother and sister at Upper Tullykittagh Townland, Dunaghy, County Antrim, in both 1851 (Census) and in the 1860's (Griffiths Valuation)as follows: Hugh Mccambridge, Head, U, 32, Farmer, Ant, Rose Mccambridge, Mother, W, 60, None, Ant, Hessy Mccambridge, Sister, U, 26, Spinning Flax, Ant. I am also taking a guess that my Hugh may be buried (died 15 January 1886)in the mass Family grave, which I found transcribed below: "Glenravel Roman Catholic Churchyard, Headstone no. 164 McCAMBRIDGE " I.H.S. SACRED HEART OF JESUS HAVE MERCY ON THE SOULS OF THE McCAMBRIDGE FAMILY. TUFTARNEY. R.I.P." What leads me to this is that bACK in 1885 both O'Hagan and McCambridges were found living in Tuftarney according to headstones as follows: (Glenravel Roman Catholic Churchyard, Headstone no. 335 O'HAGAN "ERECTED BY JOHN O'HAGAN, TUFTARNEY, IN MEMORY OF HIS WIFE MARY ANN, DIED 4th JAN. 1949, AGED 64 YEARS. HER BELOVED HUSBAND JOHN, DIED 13th APRIL 1959, AGED 81 YEARS. AND SON JAMES DIED 19th FEB. 1971, AGED 59 YEARS. AND SON JOHN DIED 17th JUNE 1984, AGED 79 YEARS. R.I.P. NEIL O'HAGAN DIED 11th JAN. 1976 AGED 48 YEARS." Can anyone shed any light or point me in the right direction? Kind regards Cherylanne

I've not had the book open for a number of years and I've learned a few things in looking for a sample to post. First of all, the Adair Family Archives (reference # HA12 and from A-E , i.e. HA12/A1) mostly concerns the estate in England. I dont know if you have ever heard the song "Bobby Shafto's gone to sea Silver buckles on his knee He'll come back and marry me Bobby Bobby Shafto" etc etc I'm told that this refered to Robert Shafto Adair! May not be true, but who knows?? best regards Robert www.ulsterancestry.com > From: [email protected] > Date: Thu, 22 Apr 2010 10:08:39 -0400 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] Adair Archives list > > I've not had the book open for a number of years and I've learned a few > things in looking for a sample to post. I've not had the book open for a number of years and I've learned a few things in looking for a sample to post. First of all, the Adair Family Archives (reference # HA12 and from A-E , i.e. HA12/A1) mostly concerns the estate in England. HA12/F concerns the Irish estates and while there are still 40-50 pages of leases, it isn't quite the amt. I originally thought were there. Secondly, I probably gave the wrong impression when I mentioned a list. If it were a list of index entries, we'd all be a whole lot happier. Unfortunately, it's a listing of what's in these Archives. In any case, the indexes themselves can give a great deal of information but it's a matter of looking at entry by entry. I'm so sorry if I gave the wrong impression. Linda
About 10days ago someone posted a link to the tithe applotment books on ulsterancestry.com. I was able to check to see if my gggrandfather Robert Craig from Limnaharry, Ahoghill, Antrim was mentioned. He was in 1825. Yesterday I went back in again and now cant get through unless I pay 15 pound stirling or $22 US. Was it only free for one look up or only on open for a few days. Can anyone help please Mavis, NZ

Originals are held at the Suffolk Record Office, Lowestoft Branch in England. The indexes have been filmed by the LDS Library on FHL BRITISH Film 258761. I was so excited when I found the file, I closed my eyes and asked that the entire file be photocopied. :D $55 later and I took the file home. While the main focus of the files are the Adair family, quite a large section is devoted to rentals they had in the Ballymena area 1600 - 1700's. Listings in those indexes can include 3 generations of family. It takes mass time to go through these indexes because there is no order to the way they are listed but the payoff can be fantastic. Worth the time to do some research there. The items included are fairly long but I will email that list to anyone who is interested. Linda Linda No virus found in this outgoing message.
