Some of the list may remember my numerous posts asking for help with my Burnside family. Thought I would share my great news. Yesterday I received a copy of a letter written by my gggg grandfather, Robert Burnside to two of his sons, Alexander and John in Beaver Co., PA. The letter is dated 1815 and is from Galgorm Parks - just where I thought they might be living but had no proof. I also got a copy of a letter written by my ggggg grandmother, dated 1788 also from Galgorm Parks to her daughter and son in law in MD. There are quite a few surnames in these letters that might be of interest to the group. If anyone wants copies please let me know and I will send you an email off list and attach the letters. Thank everyone who helped me these last 2+ years. It has been greatly appreciated! Linda

Ray & Doreen How close to Lisburn is Tullaghgarley, County Antrim? -------Original Message------- Thank you for your email Ray, and I have seen the surname take some interesting turns. But for this Robert Blakely it appears from family lore and death certificate that he was born in Lisburn, but likely married in Antrim. ********************** And in 1861 Canadian census, Robert reports being born Down, Ireland. Part of Lisburn is in Co Down and part in Co Antrim. Doreen, A possible site is the Irish Family History Foundation website http://www.irish-roots.ie/ Click on the map, and then click on Antrim. If you then click on the Sources tab in the banner line it will show what records are available. You might also try the Family Search Pilot Program. I'm not optimistic, but if Susan has just done some research on this family, she might be able to reveal her sources. Peter

I just this morning threw away a bunch of documents on Blaker, Blakely and Bleeker surname I've been working on for a man from Ontario, Canada. If you give me permission to give him your email address I will link the two of you up. I honestly can't recall any information or any of my findings as I work with so many different surnames. Please don't get your hopes up but just maybe you can get a bit of information. I do know while researching the name all these variants came up and it was very frustrating. Being from Ontario, Canada right in the areas where our original settlers came to the Niagara Region and also in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties I have accummulated a lot of Revolutionary War, War of 1812, British Campaign of 1777, etc books. These areas are huge Loyalist areas where my family histories lie hence my particular interest in these areas. Over the years I've offered lookups for a number of people. At the moment I'm researching the Underground Railroad and have found my Morden lineage involved with it. Now that is fascinating reading. Being a quilter in my spare time, it was particularly interesting to read about how the women would put a quilt together, hang it over the fence and passerbys could actually read these quilts and get valuable information from them. While researching Blaker it was mentioned in a number of books in the index to look at Blakely and Bleeker as these surnames changed back and forth. That makes for very confusing research. Good Morning Susan: The Blakely family from Antrim that I am researching arrived in Canada c. 1846 and settled in Markham, Ontario. Additional children were born in Ontario, married and died there. My interest lies with finding info before the family arrived in Canada as I do have everything after. Thank you for your input. Cheers! Remind me too to work on this but I'm caught up with some family new baby stuff at the moment with my daughter. June 1841, daughters of Robert Blakely and his wife Elisha/Alicia Brady. I'd like to obtain a copy of birth certificates or baptism details of these two Blakely sisters who are both my great grandmothers. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Robert Blakely, Church of Scotland, was b. abt 1815, Lisburn; Elisha Brady, RC, was born 1 Nov 1820, Ballymena(?). This couple and the two little girls arrived in Ontario Canada around 1846. [Robert Blakely had a brother Campbell Blakely who also settled in Ontario about the same time frame.] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Your help is appreciated. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Cheers! > > > > > > > > Doreen > > > > > > > > ======== > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > > > > Videos that have everyone talking!
