    3. Joe On my map, Mossley is WEST of Monkstown NOT EAST. My map shows that there is an Council Office on the B59 at Mossley. So when you look up the white pages for phone numbers, it may be worth looking under Newtownabbey to see if they have a Council Offcie at Mossley. On the marriage register her father is listed as William John Irwin (farmer) and witness as Robert Irwin. I know her mother's name was Elizabeth Harkness. Using the usual internet resources I haven't been able to find anything on her or her father. There is however a Robert Irwin in the Griffith Valuations 1862 for Crosshill. I am wondering if anyone has any information on this family. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Lea-Anne Qld Aust

    3. I have mention of a Nathaniel Ervine in an 1815 letter if you think that might be a connection to your group. The letter says Nathaniel "is left his place and Thomas Thompson in it" Linda On May 27, 2010, at 6:11 AM, Sharon wrote: > Here is Irvine index in Griffith's 1861-62 Index for Antrim: > IRVINE > Ahoghill Antrim Ballymartin Ballynure Connor Craigs Cranfield Derryaghy > Drumbeg Drummaul Dunaghy Kirkinriola Rasharkin Shankill Tullyrusk > > Not sure how this helps me? 3. Hi Donna, I wonder if you might please check in your book for the surname GRAY. We have a Burnside in PA with the forename Matthew Elder. His mother was Elizabeth GRAY - born in N. I. but we don't know the location or the name of her parents. Perhaps her family knew Rev. Samuel Elder. I know I am clutching at straws but that has paid off before - might as well try again :O) Thanks so much!!! 3. Sharon,   I, too, am researching early Ballyeaston families.  I checked my copy of "His House on the Hill, A History of the First Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church 1676 - 2004," by Jim Wilson, B.A. for the Irvine/Irvins/Irwin name and found the following:   Page 252 Appendix I Population of the Ballyeaston Congregation in 1813 Rev. Samuel Elder, Minister   >From Upper Glenwhirry: George Irwin, 45 - Farmer Margaret, wife, 40 Jenny, 19 John, 16 George, 13 Martha, 11 William, 7 Isaac, 5 James, 2   *******************************   Also, from nearby Ballyclare in  1861   http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/PT.Bpage508.htm   Belfast Street Directory, 1861   Ballyclare   Robert Irwin, Inspector of National Schools Irwin, Miss, milliner, Castle Street.   *************************   Also, from the Belfast Newsletter, April 7, 1772, the inhabitants of Larne, Kilwaughter and Raloo signed a petition disavowing any association with the Hearts of Steel; among the signers was Nathan Irwin, whose name appears amid other names from Larne.
