Already there are discrepancies between the 1901 and 1911 census. One ancestor in 1901 is 14 years younger than he was in 1911, he has also spelt his name differently. This means that he is not my direct ancestor, just a cousin of an ancestor. What fun. Hi The 1901 Census is available now. Happy searching Robert http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/about/futureplans.html
Lea-Anne, I tried, but sorry, no result. IFHF have an 1828 marriage for a James McFarlane but it would cost five euros to look. It gets a bit expensive if you can't be at least 60% sure. Have you registered before doing searches? That allows some better search criteria. I'd try to firm up on the location and then check "sources" tab on the IFHF page to see if that parish has been captured and the years covered. Perhaps somebody has a different opinion, but the name Langford Manderson McFarlane has a Scottish ring. I wonder if they originated in Scotland? Having said that, if you Google "Langford McFarlane" using quotation marks you will find a probate letter for somebody who died in the area earlier this year. Peter

I was wondering if I could get some help to see if it is possible to find out the mother's maiden name. I am doing some side line research to help with the history of my ancestors. I have a Langford McFarlane birth 18 Feb 1839 Randox Killead Antrim (found on IGI) I know his father is James and his mother is Margaret. Are there any ways to narrow down the maiden name of his mother. I have found Langford's marriage to Ellen in 1870 on Emeral Ancestors (via the index I do not have a subscription) and on the LDS pilot site I found a list of his children. And from this site I know that Ellen's maiden name was McCurdy. The unusual part is that Langford is listed as Langford Manderson McFarlane. I have tried lots of different combinations on the AncestryIreland website and the Irish Family history foundation website with no luck. Perhaps someone can help with some suggestions. Thanks Lea-Anne Aust
The only possible place you will get the mothers surname is through church records. If you go to my web site www.eastantrimancestry.com and send me all the details you have I will see what I can do. I charge about £20 per record search. The announcement at the site was for June 3d, not 2d. Whether they meet that goal without problems remains to be seen. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of RAY JONES Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2010 10:05 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] 1901 Census I recall that 2-3 weeks ago it was announced that the 1901 Census for County Antrim would be available today, June 2nd.
