Hello List, I am researching the Kilwaughter-Larne area for the surnames Glasgow and Shannon all the way from 1669, when Jas. and Jo. Glascho appeared on the Hearth Money Rolls, until 1747, when my ancestor, Robert Glasgow was turned out of Old Presbyterian Church of Kilwaughter and Larne. The Glasgows lived mostly in and around the Kilwaughter area, but I did find one James Glasgowe in Altilevelly in 1747. Glasgow forenames include James, John, Hugh, William, and Robert. Members of this family were very active and held positions of responsibility in the Old Presbyterian Church of Larne and Kilwaughter, and some are buried at St. Cedmas Cemetery in Larne. Also looking for the descendants of Hugh Shannon of Ballykeel, Kilwaughter Parish, who died 1727, and his descendant, Hugh Shannon, also of Ballykeel, who died 1776; this Hugh Shannon was married to Ann Taggard Glasgow, daughter of the above Robert Glasgow. Shannon male descendants include James Shannon, Archibald Shannon, Glasgow Shannon, and Robert Shannon. These included the Shannons from Ballytober, Carncastle and Killyglen. Also researching the Wilsons of Ballyeaston including the six sisters of Archibald WILSON, freeholder of Tildarg, who died 1795. Archibald WILSON left no descendants; he had six sisters: Jane, Margarett, Rachel, Anne, Elizabeth, and Susanna, his only heirs and next of kin. His sister Rachel married Robert Glasgow, and sister Margaret's daughter married Robert's son James (her first cousin). Also, Lamonts/Youngs/Sitlingtons who were situated in areas surrounding the Six-Mile-Water, in particular, Andrew Lamont Young and John Sitlington, linen manufacturers. I'm also keeping an eye peeled for the Unknown Higginson who was the stepfather of Rose Young, whose mother was Prudence Higginson. Rose Young married Robert Shannon, and the family emigrated to Canada in about 1849 with several children. Thanks to all.
Which Gaston family do you have? I have some Gaston information that I can dig out. There are many Gastons in Carnlea etc. In fact, there are still Gastons there. -----Original Message----- From: irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Ronda Gregg Sent: Thursday, November 16, 2006 11:59 PM To: irl-antrim@rootsweb.com Subject: [IRL-ANTRIM] Crabbe,Gaston,Rea and Workman families Anyone have a PARK married into one of these families in the Ballymena area? Sorry, I forgot to attach the email address yesterday for the RCB library: susan.hood@rcbdub.org I live in Southern Ontario (London). The Mexican Mennonites were an offshoot of the Mennonites that started on the same Swiss German border, but migrated to Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada, but then went from there to Mexico. They searched for places that would allow them to practise their religion. Then they came to Elgin Co near here. Interetingly, they are still German first-language. Not the first time I've heard that about Canadian beer. It is the usual request from American contacts from their Canadian friends and relatives. Ours is stronger, more full bodied - and COLD! I'm a Reed, on my father's side, from Antrim...although I know Reed isn't really an Antrim name, is it? I'm descended from Andrew REED and Jean MURRAY, who came over sometime around 1730, seemingly from Antrim. But I always kinda thought they probably came from England, maybe way-pointed from Antrim...I don't really know...It seems that they made several trips back and forth, and had at least one daughter born at sea. The one thing that does seem "fairly" certain is that they were married in Antrim. I'm also a McLaughlin, seems to be from George McLAUGHLIN (rumor is came on the HERCULES), but unproven, and seemingly from Coleraine. George McLAUGHLIN seems to have a brother who had a commission in the City of Baltimore, and seems to have come over in 1730 (+/-5yrs). George seems to be the son of Phillip. George settled in Harlem, Kennebec, Maine (now called China, Kennebec, Maine), had a son George, and George 2d son, David moved to Levant, Penobscot, Maine. :-) This is all unproven...if anyone has any information...I'd love to hear it... :-) -David Reed Of the Townsend (now Boothbay) Maine REEDs David (me!) / Dermont Arlington / Clifton Dermont / Dermont Arlington / David A. / Washington / Andrew / Joseph / Andrew & Jean REED

Roll call, I'm a Shanks from Belfast in 1767. Mathew Shanks and son James came to Charleston, S. Carolina, USA to settle in Abbeville Co. Seeking anyone from the Belfast area and Antrium Co. with early Shanks connections. Also, Robert Wilson, came to the Charleston area prior to that time, a relative of James and his mother. Happy to share what we have, but a brick wall on the parents of Mathew. Mary
