Thanks for all the replies to this, it's been most helpful. Regards Morag
Hi Morag, Sorry I am late replying to your e-mail. As you say it would seem unlikely that there is a connection between the Robert Patton that married one of my ancestors and yours as mine were married in the R.C. Church. Thank you for replying it was appreciated. Mary. _____

Carolyn I cannot help you with information on the ship but the name McQuoid is very close to the spelling of McCoid that is my mother's maiden name - my research on my McCoid's is scant as my grandfather was the first to arrive in Australia but he was from Glasgow - this was the family that I first started with and since then we have had 2 moves and my research is still packed away after the latest move. I made a conscious decision to work on all Australian lines as this was the most practical whilst dealing with children and huge moves. >From memory my McCoid line can be traced back to Ireland - I know that there is a direct connection to my line in NZ and also in England - also from memory the name has popped up in the US and Canada. Sorry I cannot be of more help at the moment as I really wouldn't know what box to look in at this point in time. Lynette

Looking for the Loughin surname. Have not had much luck. Sons Robert, Arthur, William and John all ended up in the U.S. in Millville (Cumberland County), NJ. I descend from Robert YOUNG and Mary Ann FORREST. Paula Millville, NJ< Paula, What are the dates for your Youngs in Cumberland County, New Jersey? Is that the earliest location you have for your John Young? Perhaps he is descended from Andrew Lamont Young, who was a linen manufacturer in Ballygowan (border of Raloo Parish with Kilwaughter Parish), early 1700s. This is not far at all from Carrickfergus. These Youngs were Lamonts who fled to Northern Ireland after a dramatic massacre of the Clan Lamont. (An internet search will bring up several hits.) To hide their identities, they changed their names to Young, Sitlington, White and Green. In the early 1841, Hugh Young (son of John Young and Ann Houston) and his wife Agness Young emigrated to the American colonies, making their way to Augusta County (Staunton), Virginia. Perhaps your Youngs are really Lamonts and are another branch of this same family. There is a DNA study ongoing for this line of Youngs. Here is an excerpt from the Young DNA page at : Case #2 Andrew Lamont Young Lamont Youngs Several people have been working to prove their connections to the Lamont Youngs whose patriarch was Andrew Lamont Young born 1644 in Toward Castle, Kyles of Butte, Argyleshire, Scotland and died in Antrim Co, Ireland. Andrews son John had Sarah, John, Hugh, William, Jane, James & Robert. Harold Young (ShaLamont@wideopenwest.com) & James Michael Young (jmy4@aol com) have matched 23/25 markers R1b Haplo Type. Their paper trails both leads back to Andrew Lamont Young through son John to grandson William Young b 1705 Antrim Co, Ireland d 1818 Jessamine Co KY. Roy Youngs (roy_you@msn.com) paper trail leads back through Andrew to son John and grandson Robert. Roy has a genetic distance of 4 on 9/12 markers. Roy matches George Young (oldhiker50@aol.com) 12/12 markers. George suspects he connects Andrew Lamont Young through his son James C. b 1673 Antrim Co, Irleand d 1749 Augusta Co, VA. Genetic testing of other offspring of Andrew Lamont Young will be needed to make a conclusive decision as to proper connections of these families. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-ANTRIM-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Good Morning everyone: I am researching a John McNamee married to a Bridget Kennedy Morrisey McNamee. They left Ireland in 1876. My Grandfather was born on the ferry to England. I am hoping SKS might be researching the family and know where in Irelandthey might have come from. I am at a solid brick wall here. Thank you Peggyjayne
This roll call is one of the biggest I have ever seen on any web site and I belong to quite a few of them. I was recently told there are 26 Crooks families listed in the Antrim, NI telephone book which surprises me to no end as looking at this web site it would seem the entire population migrated to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA, so I am surprised that anyone is left!! Gordon
Jim: I can't help you in Antrim, but maybe I can help you in Pennsylvania. I had seen the name MCCulloch before, but don't ask em where, however there are no less than 17 McCulloch families living presently in Franklin Co., Pa. where they most probably settled early on. You could make an inquiry to Kittchotinny Historical Society in Chambersburgh, Pa., their e mail address is: history@pa Good luck Gordon ----- Original Message ----- From: "James McCulloch" <james38@provide.net> To: <irl-antrim@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 18, 2006 8:56 AM Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Roll Call -McCulloch > > > I am looking for McCullochs (John, Isaac and Robert), left Ireland about > the > year 1730.
