Looking for Holmes/Homes family in Antrim, particularly the family of John and James Holmes, merchants of Belfast in the late 1700s. They were associated with many Belfast persons later implicated in the Rising of '98, including Henry Joy McCracken . Looking for any and all information on them, now matter how insignificant it may seem . Thanks Nancy Holmes Simpson, Ph.D. We are not called to be successful, but to be faithful. Bl. Andrew Todd and Janet Carmichael left the port of Belfast in 1798 with four children - Archibald, Janet, Ellender, and John. The settled in Laurens, SC. There were two other Todd men there who were often associated with Patrick. They were Nathan and Robert who came to SC before Patrick. They were also older. Because Nathan's descendant had a DNA test done, we had a descendant of Patrick submit a sample. We were surprised that there was a 37/37 marker match with a descendant of Mary Todd Lincoln's second great grandfather, an even older Robert, who was in Pennsylvania. Nathan's descendant also had a match. Because of timing, we know that the genetic link had to have been made in Ireland. Does anyone have suggestions about how to find that link? Some of these Todds came from Armagh. We are not certain about Patrick's Irish location.
My turn now. I am researching descendants of William MACKRELL and Mary HUME from Ahoghill. Amongst their children was another William who married Agnes McCLEARY from Ballyrobin Killead . Here's hoping! :) Cathy - in coastal Queensland, Australia

I had some information which indicated that our Anderson family members came from Castledawson and attended the Presbyterian Church there. Someone kindly provided me with a hand written transcript of all of the Andersons at that Church going back as far as their records went - nothing. One issue is that our Andersons may have left before the records there started. The second issue is that they may not have been from Co. Derry but Antrim Co.. So, if anyone has any of the following in their lines, please contact me... Benjamin Anderson, b. September 9, 1785 in Ireland, d. October 4, 1851 in N. Plantagenet Twp., Prescott Co., Canada West, PROVINCE OF CANADA.. m. 1820 Mary Wylie, b. 1798 in Co. Derry Children: Agnes, b. 1811 in Co. Derry, m. John Gordon, b. 1809 in Co. Charlie Hi Charlie I really don't know. My grandmother and her siblings and mother left Ireland about 1914. Her father left the year before. They came to the US via Canada and first lived in Montana, later moving to Oregon. Since none of my great grandfathers relatives came with them, I am not sure where they may have gone, or maybe they stayed in Ireland. My great grandfather was Robert Forsythe born 1867 His dad was James Forsythe 1831-1901 James Forsythe 1779-1839 James Forsythe 1752-1832 William Forsythe of Ballinderry 1728-1779 Robert Forsythe also married a Forsythe, Ann Jane Forsythe her parents were William Forsythe 1801-1881 and Mary Compton or Christie died 1875. Hi all, My ancestors William McCLURE and Sarah WHITESIDE(S) apparently married in Belfast area about 1845, they had four children in Ireland before coming to Tasmania in 1859; Jane c 1846 William Adair c 1850 Mary c 1856 Edmund c 1857 (at Lisburn according to a birth certificate for one of his children) There may have been more children. In Tasmania William and Sarah had two more children; John Cubitt 4 Dec 1862 (probably named after John CUBITT who sponsored the family to Tasmania) Isaac James 6 Jan 1865 According to the marriage certificate for William McCLURE's third marriage in Victoria in 1891 to Mary Ann ROSE, his parents were Jabob and Sarah McCLURE (nee DARBY). There were a number of marriages between members of the McCLURE, ROWE (ROE) and HAYES families around Deloraine in Tasmania, perhaps there were connectons in Ireland to the ROWE/ROE and/or CUBITT families ?? Not my words - The registration districts established in 1845 adopted the Poor Law Union structure that was instituted by the Poor Law Act of 1838. This comprised a system of 130 unions or districts. As needed, the structure and boundaries of these divisions changed. These changes included the addition of new districts as well as the dissolution of others. Ben: My great grandmother was Agnes Magee born abt 1830. She had a 3 brothers, Henry, Alexander and William. Two other sisters, Susan and Mary Ann. Their parents were Alexander Magee and Susan Close. Henry was born in Larne, 1824 and married Margaret Saunderson also of Larne. They had 3 children 2 girls and a boy. The children were Susannah born October 19, 1840, Jenny born 1844 and Nathanial born 1846. There is no other history of Susannah. You did not give any dates but if this is your Susannah let me know. I have additional Magee ancestors but for Susannah the record stops at her birth. Mike Robinson
