Hi Mesa: Have a hunch we are descended from the same Paul family. My grandmother was born in the Cullybackey area very near Ballymena in 1866. Her parents were Robert Paul and Mary Ann Lavender, both born around 1822. Robert was the son of Samuel James Paul, born 1778. , Samuel had at least 4 sons, Moses, James, John, and Robert. The father of Samue was William, born around 1750, probably in Scotland. There are many William Johns among the Paul family. At least half of the line moved to Iowa, mostly around the Grinnell area. Hi Steve My gg-grandmother was Rose Ann(e) Purdy/Purdie, born around 1860 in Bushmills Antrim. Parents are given on her marriage certificate as John Purdy (a farmer) and Elizabeth Kelly. I have no other details. She came to New Zealand in 1875, unaccompanied as far as I can tell. No details of any other family, etc. Perhaps there is a link somewhere?
