    3. Have you tried the Upton family in St. Joseph, Michigan? They are the founders of Whirlpool Corp. and Fred is the U.S. Representative for the district. They are a very prominent family and have probably researched their roots. Could be the same line as yours? 3. I am seeking information on *Cargo*, and *Taylor* families who lived at or near Ballygilbert, Ballykildare, Newtownards near Bangor in County Down, Ireland, about 1850's. *Rachel Taylor* married *John Dodds* in 1868 and it was registered at Bangor. They emigrated to NZ in 1869. John Dodds' birth was registered at Lisburn, Co Antrim. Rachel Taylors' parents were *Thomas Taylor*, and *Susan[na] Cargo. * They were married about 1839, and lived near Carnmoney in Co Antrim. They later shifted to near Bangor in Co Down. Susan[na] Cargo's parents were *James Cargo* and *Jane Rusk.* James was one of at least four brothers. 1 *Robert Cargo* [born 1812] married Barbara Kerr emigrated to USA about 1847. 2 *Hugh Cargo* emigrated to USA in about 1824. 3 *James Cargo* stayed in Ireland. Buried at Bangor Abbey? 4 * Samuel Cargo* emigrated to NZ in 1864, where his descendents still live. I would appreciate making contact with any person having any information about any of these ancestors. (Please send reply to email address. Thanks.) Don No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. Steve I'm rather ignorant of the geography of Antrim, apart from what some very kind people have informed me in the past (thanks Nevin!). Bushmills is in the northern part of Antrim, in the parish of Billy, near the Giants Causeway. Bushmills has a distillery (oops - that shows my priorities! lol!!). One day (work, family, money, etc permitting, lol!) I will get to visit the area, and see for myself where my ancestors came from! Because I've no knowledge (so far) of any other family members, though I would think it possible, I will keep your "branch" in my records, so that I can see if there is any overlap as I find more information! Started this a couple of years ago everything was Scottish (Simple easy records), but now I have one Scottish Line (Rankin) and everything else is in Northern Ireland. I am also searching Cairney/Carney/Kearney (spelling different all the time), Kelly, Murray, Graham, Finnigan, Hughes, Queen/Quin, Currie & Garvie. Thanks for your help, any advice is greatly appreciated. -----Original Message----- From: irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of TaggartN@aol.com Sent: 23 November 2006 09:43 To: irl-antrim@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Portglenone Could also be a mixed marriage, Sharon. 2. Kearney seems to be the 'standardised' form now, Sharon; the Scottish/EnglishK has supplanted the Irish C. Currie/Curry - ie seems to represent the Scottish spelling style, y the English. Some McIlvarnogs in Co Antrim changed their name to Graham, some to Warnock. The McCavishs are now Thompson, Cairdys - Sinclair, Elshinors - Alexander, Hoggart - Howard and McQuilkin - Wilkinson. Good luck Nevin
